Sprawl is a present epidemic affecting the way we currently define all our communities and the environment that we live in. This rapid outward expansion of our nation’s various suburban and metropolitan regions has been growing rapidly out of control.
The New Urbanism Symposium promotes an innovative design movement changing the way America's neighborhoods, cities, and towns are built. Joined by a number of experts in the field of urban planning and development, it seeks to change and revitalize our present living spaces for the better in order to improve our quality of life for the future and for the next generation.
The main piece designed for this symposium is an 8"x13" bound book on the negative effects of sprawl, serving as an awareness piece on the subject matter. Information graphics, statistics and aerial shots of sprawling neigborhoods fill the book as well as technical diagrams explaining its adverse effects on our health, landscape, wildlife, economy and overall well-being.
*Forgive the digital format. It doesn't do justice to the saturated colors of the actual book.
A 24"x36" poster was designed to promote the symposium. The front displays information on sprawl and its effect on our daily commute and reliance on the automobile. It also includes the conference speakers as well as the date and time of the symposium. The back provides conference goers with a map of San Francisco showing the event location, hotel and accomodations as well as popular landmarks. It also includes a day-to-day schedule of events that will be held at the Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco.
The symposim mailer consists of a 10x16" mini-poster encased in a plastic tube. The back contains information on the event as well as a perforated registration form.
